  22. This program (Advanced ZIP Password Recovery, or simply AZPR)
  23. can be used to recover the lost password for a ZIP archive. At
  24. the moment, there is no known method to extract the password
  25. from the compressed file, so the only available methods are
  26. "brute force", dictionary-based and known-plaintext attacks.

  28. Well, there are a lot of programs like this around, but
  29. all of them have their own "pros" and "cons". Here is a brief
  30. list of AZPR's advantages:
  31.  
  32. - The program has a convenient user interface
  33. - The program is very fast: up to fifteen million passwords per
  34.   second (on Pentium III)
  35. - The program can work with archives containing only one 
  36.   encrypted file (at about the same speed)
  37. - Self-extracting archives are supported
  38. - The program is customizable: you can set the password length
  39.   (or length range), the character set to be used to generate
  40.   the passwords, and a couple of other options
  41. - You can select the custom character set for brute-force attack
  42.   (non-English characters are supported)
  43. - Dictionary-based attack is available
  44. - The "brute-force with mask" attack is available
  45. - The maximum password length is not limited (in registered
  46.   version)
  47. - Very fast known-plaintext attack is available
  48. - No special virtual memory requirements
  49. - You can interrupt the program at any time, and start from the
  50.   same point later
  51. - The program can work in the background, using the CPU only 
  52.   when it is in idle state

  67. Known bugs and limitations

  70. - If the archive contains only one encrypted fileand it is "stored"
  71.   (without compression, just with encryption) -- the performance might
  72.   be lower than expected, especially on large files, because decrypting
  73.   the whole file is required.
  74. - If the archive contains two or more encrypted files, the
  75.   program assumes that all of them are encrypted with the same
  76.   password.

  88. Unregistered (trial) version decrypts only first 10% pages (but
  89. at least one page) of the documents, and replaces all other pages
  90. with blank (empty) ones. Also, it doesn't support command line
  91. interface.

  93. After you register (look at "order.txt" for details), we'll
  94. send you your personal registration code. To enter it into the
  95. program, just press the "Register" button on the main screen;
  96. the program will display the small window dialog asking you to
  97. enter the code. If the code is correct, APDFPR shows the message
  98. that it is registered now, and so since than has the full
  99. functionality.

  102. versions of APDFPR -- it means, that they will be free for you.
